NanoPacific Holdings, Inc. Adds Two Senior Members to Its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)

Los Angeles, CA – NanoPacific Holdings, Inc (NPH) is pleased to announce the addition of two senior members to its SAB - Paul G. Pearson, PhD and Richard B. Stead, MD.  Drs. Pearson and Stead have significant pre-clinical and clinical development experience. “We continue to attract highly experienced professionals that will provide NPH with additional expertise and guidance on the development and commercialization of our technology,” stated Joseph A. Boystak, Chairman & Co-CEO.  “We are delighted that Drs. Pearson and Stead have become members of our SAB, and we look forward to their important contributions. They join a distinguished group of SAB members,” Boystak further commented.

 

Dr. Richard Stead is Founder and Principal of BioPharma Consulting Services, located in Seattle, WA.  He has more than 20 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry directing clinical trials, in- and out- licensing efforts, as well as preclinical research and development at Amgen and Immunex. Since 2002, he has worked as an independent consultant to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies as well as to investors in several therapeutic areas. He focuses on clinical and regulatory strategy for therapeutic product development as well as operational issues in executing clinical development programs.

In 1988, Dr. Stead was recruited to Amgen as its first physician. He played significant roles in the clinical development, FDA approval and commercialization of Amgen's first two products, Epogen® and Neupogen®.

In 1999, he joined Immunex as Vice President of Clinical Research and Development with responsibilities for both pipeline and marketed products for Oncology and Neurology. He negotiated the approval and post-marketing commitments for the approval of Novantrone® in multiple sclerosis with the FDA.

Dr. Stead graduated from the University of Wisconsin and Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his medical training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School and a second post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.  

 

Dr. Pearson currently serves as President & CEO, Pearson Pharma Partners,
a drug discovery and development organization specializing in Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism and Translational Sciences strategic guidance for biotechnology and pharma companies, and venture capital firms. Current clients include biotechnology companies and venture firms in Seattle, San Diego and the San Francisco bay area.

 

Previously, Dr. Pearson was Vice President and Global Head, Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism, Amgen Inc., Thousand Oaks, CA. (Oct 2003- April 2008) where he had programmatic responsibility for Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism activities in support of Amgen Inc.’s drug discovery and drug development programs in Thousand Oaks, CA, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA and Seattle, WA. He had direction of 270 scientific personnel engaged in the discovery and development of small molecule and protein therapeutics with an $85 MM annual operating budget.

 

Executive Director, Preclinical Drug Metabolism, Merck Research Laboratories, Merck & Co, Inc., West Point, PA. (Jan 1998 – Sept 2003).
Programmatic responsibility for Preclinical Drug Metabolism activities in support of Merck Research Laboratories drug discovery and drug development programs in West Point, PA and Rahway, NJ.  These activities include support to drug discovery efforts at the two largest Merck sites and all areas of Preclinical Drug Metabolism activities in support of Merck development programs and direction of 160 scientific personnel.

 

Director, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacia and Upjohn, Kalamazoo, MI. (1990-1998)
He held positions of increasing responsibility for Drug Metabolism activities at Upjohn/Pharmacia and Upjohn and directed 40 scientific personnel.

 

Dr. Pearson earned his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from Ashton University, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Birmingham, England.  He completed his post-doctoral research at the

Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington.
